Frequently Asked Questions
1. What type of experience level do I need to attend Montana Cowboy School? Montana Cowboy School provides a unique opportunity for anyone with a strong desire to learn a chance to have fun and experience Cowboy life. Our instructors are actual working cowboys and many participate in local rodeos; either working the rodeo or competing in various events of the rodeo. If you have a strong desire to learn you don't need to worry about your experience level. Our instructors (along with the ratio of instructors/wranglers to class participants) ensures that you'll have every opportunity to learn at a comfortable pace and progress your skills while having a ton of fun along the way! 2. Will there be any "free" time to explore the local area? Yes. You can arrive as early as 3p.m. on the Saturday before your classes begin and you can checkout as late as 10a.m. on the Saturday following classes. Classes (and getting ready for class) will normally keep you busy anywhere from 7a.m. (or later, once you learn the ropes) until around 6p.m. During the summer months, it's not unusual for it to stay light until 10:30p.m., so you'll have plenty of time to go down to some of the surrounding lakes and rivers, take in a short hike in the surrounding mountains, relax in the hot-tub, relax at The Watering Hole, etc. As an example, we can also provide guidance if you'd like to whitewater raft on the Sunday before classes begin. NOTE: If you need to arrive a day or two earlier or depart a day or two later than the above listed times - please let us know and we'll do everything we can to accommodate your request. Hopefully, this will allow you to save as much as possible if you're flying into the area and also spend a little extra time in the Big Sky Country or Montana! 3. A bunkhouse? Will it be bunk beds? Will I have a private room and bathroom? The bunkhouse is scheduled to be completed in early 2008 and we'll post photos to the website as construction is completed. Upon arrival at Montana Cowboy School, you will be assigned your own private bedroom. Your "private" room will be comfortable and cozy and will contain a queen size bed, all your bed and bath linens, a small desk, chair, and lamp...Nothing too fancy, but very, very, comfortable. In addition, the bunkhouse will have "common areas" where you can converse with other classmates, play cards/board games, or just enjoy some quiet time reading. Your private room assignment will also include your own private bathroom and shower. 4. Is there an "age" limit for classes? There is a minimum age of 15 to attend Montana Cowboy School. Any student under the age of 18 requires that a parent or guardian be present at the classes too. 5. My "deposit" is it refundable if my plans change? Yes and no. Once a deposit is made, you're essentially blocking out space for another student to attend classes. If your plans change, your class date would need to be filled by another student in order for your deposit to be refunded. In the event we're able to fill your class date with another student your deposit is refundable (less a $100 administrative handling fee). If we're unable to fill your class date, you would forfeit your deposit. At 90 days prior to your class date your final remaining payment is due....Once paid, this amount becomes nonrefundable if your plans change, unless we're, again, able to fill your class slot. In the event we're able to fill your class slot, then the full amount (less a $100 handling fee) would be refunded. If your plans change, we also ask that you assist, as much as possible, in finding someone else to take your class date. Now Lets Have Some FUN at Montana Cowboy School!
