Cowboy Action Shooting

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience cowboy shooting of years ago?

Well, your wait is over.  At Montana Cowboy School you'll have an opportunity to experience what it's like to holster and shoot your own single action six shooter as you make your way through a simulated western town.

This coursework shouldn't be confused with today's single action shooting but, can be viewed as an initial primer to get you started on your way towards Cowboy Mounted Shooting.  In Cowboy Mounted Shooting you move through a pre-set course on horseback and fire blanks at balloons as you move through the course.  The blanks will actually break the balloons when fired upon at a distance of up to 20 feet.

Because you're just beginning your shooting skills, we've chosen to have you start on foot and you'll move through a simulated town, complete with small buildings, simulating a western town (jail, bank, general store, blacksmith shop, etc.) and the balloons you have to shoot and break could be placed anywhere at each building (front porch, window, doorway, just inside the building, etc.).

You'll learn safe gun handling skills first and then you'll have a chance to work against the clock as you move through the town firing on the "bad guys" (balloons).

It's a BLAST and you'll have a LOT of FUN.

There's no prior experience needed and many times we've found that the Cowgirls will sometimes outshoot the Cowboys in this portion of Montana Cowboy School.

First you'll move across the starting line and time will begin.  Then you'll move up one side of the town and back down the other side of the town in a true test of your shooting skills.  At last you'll cross the finish line and your time will be calculated (including penalty times for any balloons not broken, etc.).

Throughout the course you'll have a chance to work on your skills and on your final day this will be part of your competition as we all begin to learn who will become Montana Cowboy School Champion!
